Chimney Work

Quality chimney work

Whilst chimneys are sometimes a feature of some new build houses, they are most typically found on far older properties from the days before central heating. If you live in an older property and the chimney hasn’t been inspected for a while, then it’s time to book a free chimney inspection with Avon Home Improvements. That’s because the older the chimney, the more susceptible it is to storm damage. Common problems include a weakening of the mortar that holds the bricks in the stack together and the chimney pots in place. From the ground, chimney pots don’t look that big, but if they should happen to dislodge and fall, they may cause not only significant damage to your roof but pose a threat to anyone who happens to be in the vicinity at ground level. We recommend you have your chimney inspected every five years or so to ensure that it is strong enough to withstand extreme weather conditions such as high winds and driving rain. Our skilled roofers can re-point chimney stacks, re-cement pots in place or even remove the chimney altogether. Call 01202 069923 today for a free no-obligation quote.

  • How often should I get my chimney inspected?

If the chimney is still in use, then they should be annually inspected for blockages. If it’s a structural inspection, we recommend every five years for chimneys on older properties.

  • Do you remove chimneys?

Yes, we can remove chimneys altogether or remove the pots and block them if the chimney is no longer in use. Call 01202 069923 for details.
